This pencil case was designed for an assignment to build a pencil case. It’s large enough to fit a large amount of supplies, and long enough to fit an unsharpened pencil. The material is a thick, plasticy, neoprene-like fabric. It is stiff enough to hold its shape, but can squish into a bag to better fit the space available. The elastic grid is both functional and a visual element as well. The intent is that one can cram their supplies into it if they want a quicker, shorter-term storage than zipping them inside. This is especially useful for someone like a student, who likes to use the same few pens but has to travel between classes frequently. I made three prototypes of this pencil case, and this led to changing the material because it was too stiff. The case used to have a flap but it just got in the way and wasn’t practical, leading me to my final design of a zippered pouch with the elastic grid.
